End of my darkroom era · February 20, 2010
It was the end of my darkroom era several years ago when
I bought a high-end film scanner and started digitally
processing my photos. But it became happily irrevocable
yesterday as I donated all of my darkroom equipment to a
high school.

Up to our ears in snow · February 10, 2010
This is how I'm feeling. The snow is past the awe-
inspiring stage. It was beautiful for awhile and I took
some photos. Now it is in the dirty, grungy phase.

A Balanced Diet · February, 2010
"For energy, fitness and all round anti-aging health
you need color in your diet."

Recycling Art · January 20, 2010
There are 96 slide carousels in the truck. How did we accumulate
so many over the last 25 years? (yes, rhetorical question). I
moved the slides to their original boxes and slide sheets, to be
culled more later. But the good part is that through the Waste Not
Center (click here ), I got hooked up with sculptor Michelle Stitzlein, who has a plan to use the carousels in her artwork. Click here for her website.

Dillon Beach · December, 2009
Just back from a ten day trip to northern California, in
the Petaluma area. Dillon Beach is a pretty, half-hour,
drive through pleasant rolling hills. I also had fun taking
photos of Highland cows, which I had not run across
before. See the bottom of the Tame life page for one with
the Donald Trump hairdo, which looks much better on the
cow than on Donald.

New store for note cards, etc. · November 29, 2009
I just met Jen recently when she came to the Sunbear
fall event. She invited me to put my note cards in her
sweet, cozy, Resale and Art shop in Worthington.
Click here for On Second Thought.

Mixed Media · November 25, 2009
This is in Waterford Village, a charming town in
Virginia, about thirty miles NW from where we
stayed for the September D.C. trip.
I'm working on the photo for one of three entries
to the ROY G BIV Small Works exhibit coming up.
I'm also having fun with three entries smaller than
6x6" for the OAL December exhibit.

Something Coal, Something New · October 31, 2009
We went to West Virginia for the last of the fall leaves
and drove the New River National Park scenic drive.
The drive from Lookout on the east side of the canyon, down
to the river, finally thankfully a one-way road, and up the
other side was fun, very scenic and not nearly as scary as
the website warned.

Photos for website · October 25, 2009
P.F. Kluge needed a new website and contracted me for
the photographs. I went up to Gambier in the summer and
took portraits of him, as well as photos of his books,
typewriters and other items. The website is not quite
finished, but close enough for viewing - click here.

Alpacas · October 22, 2009
Since Gary Sanders no longer has llamas, I had to hunt up
alpacas to photo. I'm happy about that, as they are much
cuter! This was a glorious find. We played for a couple
of hours. This is a group of females. It was totally unclear
who was more curious, us or them. The males were just as curious
but did not hold back. They were 'in your face and camera lens'
curious and friendly.
Click for more alpaca photos. After putting up the elephants' page,
how could I not do a page for the alpacas?

The second photo is of a male. Jack lightly nipped my arm for
turning my attention to another. These guys live at Ottawa
Creek Alpaca Farm
in Radnor, Ohio. Click here for their
address and phone number. Besides the adorable creatures,
they have a fantastic store with more alpaca goods and wearables
than you can imagine, along with soaps, jewelry and other non-
alpaca items.
I'm going back very soon for more photos and hope to add to my
(very) tame life web page.

Encroaching on the office building · October 22, 2009
The land that was once part of the AT&T empire, then Lucent,
then Alcatel-Lucent, then sold to Mt. Carmel is being parceled
off for fast food restaurants and yet more strip shopping centers.
This is a Sonic Drive-in in front of Alcatel-Lucent.

Dupont Circle · September 26, 2009
I had a fantastic time walking around Washington D.C. a few days
looking for interesting architecture. Needing paint and probably more,
this is not what Dupont Circle is known for. I ran across this before
starting the Embassy Row walking tour.

Fairfield County Fairgrounds · September 18, 2009
What a lovely fairgrounds. It is parklike and the grounds are open
year round. The fair is one of the latest of the year and is held mid-
October. There are several photogenic buildings besides this round barn.

Nostalgia Tour · August 26, 2009
Although I'm a vegetarian and don't remember going to the Kewpee
(burgers), it was on our tour of downtown as two of my sisters and I
went back to Lima, our hometown. It is a Lima landmark, afterall, and
a cute building and Kewpee doll.

The Rest of the Story · July 14, 2009
I took this photo, Books & Company, of a window display in Delaware
a couple of years ago. I liked the juxtaposition of the items and
the dogs “watching” the woman. Today Jan Kish called me after
having seen the photo in my exhibit at Inniswoods. Jan is a culinary
artist (click here ) and friend of Rose Levy Beranbaum (click here ).
Rose is the woman in the photo, which is the back cover of her book
The Cake Bible. I’m happy to know the rest of the (it's a small world)
story!

Hosta and Day Lily Farm · July 3, 2009
I just discovered the MarLee Farm in Centerburg, which has
more hostas than you can imagine, day lilies and lots more.
See hostawalk.com

Day old goats · April 17, 2009
What luck. I went to Stratford Ecological Center
south of Delaware to check on spring. Triplet goats
were born yesterday.

Daytona Beach · February, 2009
We had a fun, sunny, getaway to Florida.
We lucked out with off season crowds just two days
after the Daytona 500 and before the big bike week.

Palm Canyon · January, 2009
We had a splendid five mile hike in Palm Canyon, south of Palm
Springs in southern California, hiking from the palms in the canyon
to the cactus on the hillsides. We also re-visited Joshua Tree
National Park, one of my favorite places to photograph. I added
a photo Bill took of me taking a photo of the arch on my
About page.

Hills of Gold · February 8, 2009
This is from Helen Putnam park in Petaluma, CA, and is my favorite
photo from a Feb. 2007 trip. The photo got a mention (click here and
look for the red paragraph) in the Dispatch review of the Ohio Art
League exhibit as an "idyllic possibility". This is one of the reasons
we are willing Sonoma County house prices to come down soon!

Duck and Croc · December 17, 2008
This is a close up of sycamore wood. About 25' came off the top
of the sycamore tree in our back yard in a storm in September.
We cut it up ourselves with manual tools, allowing time for
pattern studies.

P. F. Kluge, author portrait · November 17, 2008
The New York Times reviewed the book Gone
Tomorrow
by Kluge. I took the portrait last year for
the book's jacket cover. I don't know how long the link
will be valid, but for now, click here for the review.

Popeye and Nemo · October 10, 2008
This is part of peeling paint in the Distillery District
in Toronto. Most, but not all, of the buildings have
been restored.

Clarksdale Wall · July, 2008
We went to Arkansas to visit Bill's aunt, cousins and
family farm. On the way, we drove through the
Mississippi Delta and the delta in Arkansas.
The theme was small towns. Most of the towns
have seen better days and I was hooked on the
building walls. This one is in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

Ed's Cellar · July, 2008
On Bill's family farm in Arkansas.

Tenants Harbor · June, 2008
This is along the coast of Maine. In addition to
shooting the traditional coastal scenes, lighthouses
and lobster boats I was influenced as I read the book
The Country of the Pointed Firs written by
Sarah Orne Jewett in the late 19th century.

Mustard in Napa · February, 2008
I got obsessed with the mustard in bloom in the
wine country.

Delaware, Ohio · October, 2007
Walking the town looking for lines, shapes and
shadows.

Check back soon. I just started this page and hope
to work my way backwards with my favorite photo
from each event and trip in the last few years.
